    Timeline

    The M.A. in Environmental Sustainability and Management offers a flexible timeline. Most students earn their 36 credits within 2 years, but you have up to 5 years to complete the degree requirements. The pace at which you progress is determined by the number of credits you take per semester. Courses are offered in fall, spring, and summer semesters.

    Mission

    Empower yourself to tackle environmental challenges with an M.A. in Environmental Sustainability & Management. Our mission is to cultivate leaders who can work across disciplines and collaborate effectively to address the complex ecological and societal dimensions of environmental issues, thereby laying the foundation for a sustainable future.  Graduates will develop a deep understanding of managerial, regulatory, economic, social and ethical responsibilities, as well as a grasp of current issues and theories in environmental science, sustainability, climate change, and environmental management. Upon completion of the program, graduates will be able to:

    1. Apply systems thinking and analysis to assess environmental threats spanning various scales and impacting communities, organizations, and ecosystems.
    2. Develop strategies to address environmental risks in communities, organizations, and ecosystems, integrating scientific, economic, technological, legal, regulatory, ethical, and cultural dimensions for effective mitigation, elimination, and adaptation.
    3. Evaluate environmental, economic, and social costs associated with policy, regulation, and management strategies to address environmental challenges, as well as adaptation, mitigation, and restoration endeavors.
    4. Develop management acumen essential for impactful environmental, climate, and sustainability decision-making; communication with stakeholders; and leadership roles.
